Silky. Creamy. Delicious. This butter paneer tastes like it’s straight out of your favorite Indian restaurant. Super quick and easy to make- this recipe will surely wow your roommates!

Ingredients:

  • 9 oz fresh or frozen paneer

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 1 bay leaf

  • ¼ cup yellow onion finely chopped

  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste

  • 1 cup tomato puree/sauce

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1 cup milk or water

  • 1 ½ tsp garam masala

  • 1 tsp red chilli powder

  • ½ tsp turmeric powder

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Soak the paneer block in warm water if using frozen paneer. You can skip this step if using fresh paneer.

  2. Place a cooking pot on medium heat and melt butter.

  3. Once melted, add onions, bay leaf, and sauté until onions are translucent.

  4. Add ginger garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell disappears.

  5. Add the tomato puree/sauce and stir intermittently for 2 minutes.

  6. Add all the spices- chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, salt, and pepper powder. Keep stirring until the mixture is thick and the oil starts oozing from the side.

  7. Lower the heat and add the cream and mix.

  8. Slowly add in the milk or water. Use milk for a richer and thicker gravy or water for a lighter and thinner gravy.

  9. Cut the paneer block into cubes and add to the gravy. Slowly mix and allow to simmer for 5-7 mins.

  10. Garnish with a drizzle of heavy cream.

  11. Serve with white rice and enjoy hot!
